Government funding is available for Vitalis Home Care services, but you must be eligible to receive it. You can check your eligibility here.

There are two main types of government funding:

  • The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) helps older Australians access entry-level support services to live independently and safely at home. If you’re having trouble with everyday tasks and feel that a little support could improve your health and wellbeing, CHSP could be right for you.
  • Home care packages (HCP) are available to eligible people who have more complex needs that provided for by the CHSP. Vitalis can work with you to deliver services that fit your government-provided HCP budget.

You may be required to make a contribution to the cost of care by paying an Australian Government income-tested fee. Further information about contributions is available on the My Aged Care website.

All of Vitalis’ Home Care services are also available to private clients. Please contact us for more information.

The cost of your care will depend on a range of factors, including the type of care your need (for example, standard care, sleepover care or nursing care) and when you require the care (for example, weekdays, weeknights, weekends or public holidays).

Download our Fees and Charges brochure for Home Care Packages.

Our friendly and skilled carers are available to support you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including public holidays.

We provide:

  • Daytime Care, which can be anything from two hours a day to 12 hours a day. Visits can be made weekly, every few days, daily or multiple times per day to suit your needs.
  • Sleepover Care to help you at bedtime and again in the morning with showering, dressing and breakfast. Support is available during the night in case you need it.
  • Active Night Care for extra help at night when you are unwell.
  • Live-In Care is around-the-clock help, enabling you to remain in your own home even as your needs increase. Live-in care can be long term or short term (for example, to provide respite for your primary carer or to assist in your recovery after hospitalisation).
For information, including session lengths, about other Support at Home services (for example physiotherapy or nursing services), please contact us.

Live-in staff sleep in your home overnight and provide active care for an agreed period during waking hours. They will need a place to sleep and it is assumed they will have a relatively uninterrupted night’s sleep. If you are not able to accommodate a carer to sleep overnight or you need more care during the night, we can assign two or more staff to provide 24-hour care day.

Support at Home is the new name for Home Care services in Australia. This is because, from 1 July, 2025, the Australian Government’s Support at Home program replaces the Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme.

The Government has said: “We are implementing the Support at Home program in response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. Support at Home will bring together current in-home aged care programs, ensuring a simpler and more equitable system for older people that helps them to stay at home for longer. Support at Home will ensure improved access to services, equipment and home modifications to help older people remain healthy, active and socially connected to their community.”

The Government has clearly identified the categories and services classified as Support at Home. Vitalis can provide direct support and/or guidance in all areas.

A key difference between Support at Home and the Home Care Packages Program is that instead of four Home Care Package levels, there will be:

  • 8 ongoing Support at Home funding classifications
  • 3 short-term care pathways (Restorative Care Pathway, End-of-Life Pathway and 3 funding tiers for assistive technology and home modifications).

If you would like help understanding these changes or would like to know how Vitalis can meet your Support at Home needs, please contact us.
