What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is funded by the Australian Government. It provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.
How do I know if I’m allowed to claim for Vitalis NDIS services?
The NDIS is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). It says claims must be ‘reasonable and necessary’ to be approved. Claims are assessed individually, and:
- Must be related to a participant’s disability
- Must not include day-to-day living costs not related to a participant’s disability support needs, such as groceries
- Should represent value for money
- Must be likely to be effective and work for the participant
- Should take into account support given to the participant by other government services, their family, carers, networks and the community.
